No matter what the advertisement says, in 99.9% of the cases, it is impossible to see results from a skincare product in a single use or to become ‘fairer in seven days.’
We say this because; at Just Herbs, we believe that skincare advice and products should be based on facts and not on misleading images of photo-shopped models and computer generated graphics. So, here are the facts, plain and simple…
FACT 1:You need to wait for at least 1 Skin –Cycle (3 – 4 weeks) or more before you can truly see results from a skincare product
Your skin cells age and die regularly and new cells are formed. This life-cycle of skin cells is called skin cell turnover and it changes as we age. When we are babies, our pink, plump skin turns over approximately every 14 days. When we are teens, cells turn over approximately every 21 to 28 days. As we age, cell turnover slows down to 30 to 40 days, and after we reach 50 and older, cell turnover can slow to 1-1/2 to 3 months. This process of renewal is basically exfoliation (shedding) of the epidermis. On an average a skin turnover cycle lasts about 3-4 weeks and that is exactly how much time you must give any skincare product to show results.
FACT 2: Deep seated marks and blemishes may take even more time unless you are ready to face the potentially harmful long term consequences of a chemical treatment
The deeper layers of skin, called the dermis, do not go through this cellular turnover and so do not replace themselves. Thus, foreign bodies, such as tattoo dyes or deep seated blemishes or marks implanted in the dermis will remain and in very severe cases are extremely difficult to remove completely with topical skincare. In such cases, you will need a clinical treatment which more often than not will adversely affect skin in the long run.
FACT 3: That one miracle ingredient that will even out your skin or change your skin tone, doesn’t exist
Don’t let the advertisers tell you otherwise. You can’t just focus on one skin issue with a single ingredient; you’ve got to support all of the systems of the skin. Just like our bodies need a wide variety of nutritional foods to stay healthy, our skin also needs a balanced “diet” of state-of-the-art beneficial ingredients supplied through a consistent skin-care routine. That is possible only through expertly blended products that hold several skin friendly ingredients in harmony. So don’t just look at the front label but also read the full ingredient list of a beauty product and see what are the so called “base ingredients” used. If a brand is honest enough to list them in full, great! If not, skip it or demand the full list!
